As a SAIT trainee, you will play a meaningful role in supporting the teams that handle tax‑related activities across Allan Gray. Your work will include conducting research and presenting analysis on technical and compliance matters, assisting with tax‑related queries from internal and external stakeholders, and staying on top of industry developments.

This role is ideal if you have achieved 70% or higher in English and pure Mathematics in your National Senior Certificate and maintained a grade-point average of 70% or higher in your postgraduate degree or diploma in Taxation.
The Traineeship is aimed at ambitious, high-performing graduates with strong academic track records, who are eligible to work in South Africa.
You will conduct tax research, analyse technical and compliance issues, and prepare and review corporate tax returns. The role also includes supporting internal and external stakeholders with tax queries, participating in tax‑related projects and contributing to tax risk management processes and compliance frameworks.
The Traineeship runs for three years and includes rotations through business areas that have a tax focus or are influenced by tax regulations. This gives trainees broad experience in the operational and strategic tax environment at Allan Gray.
First, it is important that you meet our minimum qualifying criteria. We seek out candidates who are analytical, curious, disciplined, strong communicators and eager to grow professionally. Candidates should be able to demonstrate adaptability, independence of thought and a willingness to engage with complex tax issues.
Yes. If you are selected to be a SAIT trainee and you live more than 100 kilometres outside Cape Town, you qualify for relocation support. Travel and accommodation arrangements will be made to help you find your feet as you start the Traineeship at our office in Cape Town. We will provide more information on how this works during the onboarding process.
